Dawne Dye’s Celebration Of Life

Thank you to everybody who was able to attend Dawne’s Celebration of Life last Tuesday.  There were tears, laughter and much music, all of which I think would have met with Dawne’s hearty approval and a perfect way to celebrate the wonderful woman Dawne was.

Many thanks to Pat Hodgins for all the time and work she put into getting it us organized despite some challenges along the way!  Thanks also to Ron for stepping in at the last minute to conduct the group, to Ken for playing the piano for us, and to Evelyn and Ken for the stunningly beautiful Meditation.

In spite of all best organizational efforts, we did forget to confirm the masking policy at the memorial and as such were caught off guard when we were rehearsing and performing with singers who were not masked. Many of us felt very uncomfortable and I’m sorry you were put into such a situation. As we have done for our own concerts, the board will be working to create policies for similar events to ensure every EnChor singer will know the circumstances in which you will be asked to sing beforehand, regarding masking, and other important health and safety concerns.  It is important that every member feels they can make an informed decision about participating in any planned event.

LOOKING TOWARDS THE NEW SEASON!

Covid protocols at rehearsals:

The Enchor Covid Safety Committee will meet in late August to discuss recommendations they will take to the board for consideration for our fall rehearsals. As usual, all Covid recommendations will be reviewed regularly during the season to determine if any changes need to be made.

First Rehearsal:

WHEN: Friday, September 9th, 2022  10:00am to 12:00pm

            WHERE: United Churches of Langley

                                        21562 Old Yale Road Langley

Nancy and Garnet have graciously offered their home for a Choir Social after our first rehearsal and so it was thought a rehearsal in Langley will save some time and driving.

They have a huge outdoor seating area, and a wonderful pool to enjoy on a warm September afternoon.

Lunch will be catered.

More information to come nearer the date.

  • during regular rehearsal hours but in the Sanctuary. More information to come.

EnChor AGM: Friday, October 14th after regular rehearsal

2022-2023 Concert Dates:  All on Sunday afternoons starting at 3:00

            November 20, 2022:  Largely non-Christmas repertoire

December 18, 2022: Probably entirely Christmas with a traditional feel and audience     participation

Two letters of thanks from the BCCF

Messages for Willi Zwozdesky, Executive Director of the BCCF and Anita Comba, President of the BCCF

Dear EnChor

On behalf of the BC Choral Federation, I send sincere thanks to EnChor Choir for the generous donation of $500 to the BCCF in support of BCCF services toward choral activity in the province. That EnChor continues to keep the BCCF’s work in mind is very gratifying. The Federation works hard to support choirs everywhere in BC. EnChor is one of a very few who recognize this work with a direct donation. You serve as a model for others to emulate!

Many thanks again for your leadership in this regard!  Please share this message with your membership.
Yours in the BCCF,

Willi Zwozdesky

Dear EnChor

As President of the BCCF I would like to echo Willi’s expression of gratitude.  Indeed, this generous gift is a very affirming show of support and recognition of the work of the BCCF.  We are most grateful!

Sincerely,

Anita Comba

On behalf of the EnChor board, I would like to wish you and yours a relaxing and safe summer break.

Take care and we’ll see you in the fall!

Cheers

Cathy
