FROM MORNA

Basses meet at 9:30 in the library off the E/W Hall this Friday morning, March 10.  Thank you, section leaders and everyone for your commitment to having all the music well in hand.  Speaking of which, we are all experienced enough to grasp how much more enjoyable a performance is if we know exactly what is coming next!  I encourage everyone to take ownership of every note of your part by doing whatever work is necessary at home, and really make the lines sing in your voice.

This week’s repertoire: Sonnet 43, Weinachten, The Moon is Distant from the Sea, Wind Rising in the Alleys, Dashing Away with the Smoothing Iron and The Summer Wind (please listen to this track several times before Friday and take note of the sassy, somewhat lazily heavy offbeat accents!)

As you have noticed, from time to time we have someone auditioning on a Friday morning to join EnChor. The Board and I have been discussing whether we should advertise in a general way for people who might be interested in joining us.  We’ve decided we won’t – we have a strong choir at the moment and good balance. Instead, I want to encourage you all to think of excellent sopranos, tenors, and basses you know who you think might enjoy singing with us, and please email me about them. Even if they are not ready to join us yet, we might want to see if they would attend the April concert to get to know us.

See you Friday morning!

KATHAUMIXW REMINDER:

Just a gentle reminder to let me know today of any dietary restrictions you may have or if your hotel plans need to be changed.  If you now realize that you are able to join us for our tour to Powell River it’s not too late.  We would love to have as many of you as possible join us for this exciting adventure.

Sandra

ANOTHER REMINDER:

For those who are interested, our UBC Scholarship recipient has her graduate recital on Wednesday evening.

Elektra Women’s Choir concert – this Friday, March 10 at 7:30pm at Pacific Spirit United Church.

Morna wants you to know about Elektra’s concert called “Humanity” this Friday. It combines beautiful choral music and photography.  Check out the short video on the website by South Hazelton-based photographer, Elizabeth Larsen, who will be in attendance.  A limited number of tickets will be available at the door or buy in advance through the Elektra website link above.
