From Morna
Thank you to everyone as you assessed the safest way to participate in our rehearsal this past Friday morning. Your quick responses to the survey allowed Cathy and me to come up with the plan that didn’t disappoint our White Rock hosts. It all worked out just fine. Onward and upward!
This Friday’s rehearsal is back to usual, with the Tapestry performance following. Thanks to Larry Burr for all the arrangements. Following a lunch break wherever you want to eat, I would like you to walk in the door of Tapestry at Wesbrook Village (3338 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver (UBC)) around 1:45 so we can do a quick standing and sound check right at 2pm. There is plenty of free parking beside and below Save-On Foods. The concert starts at 2:30 and lasts about 40 minutes. Bring proof of vaccination and be prepared to check in at their lobby desk. Masks must be worn at all times.
Please bring a stool if you need one.
This is in the same place (restaurant) at Tapestry that we performed last spring. The whole choir will not fit. Looks like we are on track to take a balanced group of about 30.
Repertoire (revised Nov 30):
1. Pastime with Good Company
2. Home and the Heartland
3. Tell My Ma
4. What Sweeter Music?
5. Deck the Hall – SINGALONG
6. O Come, All Ye Faithful (Willcocks, not GCS) in F? – SINGALONG
7. Away in a Manger
8. Dormi, Dormi
9. Joy to the World – SINGALONG
10. We Three Kings – SINGALONG
11. Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas
12. We Wish You a Merry Christmas (Rutter, not GCS)
Apparel red ponchos for women / black shirt and pants for men with red tie. Please have a black mask as we will be performing masked.
For our own concert on December 18, we are looking for singers to bring beautiful poinsettias which we will use to decorate the church. We’ll ask for a show of hands on Friday. If you are bringing one, please don’t water it in the 24 hours before concert day.
ENCHOR CHRISTMAS CARD
We have an idea that we would like to try this year, about distributing Christmas cards to our audience. We have printed EnChor Christmas cards to be distributed at our December 18th concert. Space is provided on the back of the card for signatures, and we would like each singer to sign at least 2 dozen cards in advance – this can be done before, during or after rehearsal this Friday (December 9th). Each choir member will have several cards tucked in their folder during the concert, and after the concert, we can mingle with our audience, give them a card and wish them a Merry Christmas. Please bring your pens with you to Friday’s rehearsal.
Good news!
I am very happy to report that the board and PARC Retirement Living have come to a sponsorship agreement which will take us through to the end of the 2023-2024 season. EnChor will receive $2500 for the remaining 2022-2023 season and $5000 for the 2023-2024 season. The sponsorship includes a number of sponsor benefits for PARC including branding as a season corporate sponsor. Also, EnChor will perform a 45-minute concert for residents of each of the three North Shore PARC residences from January to June 2023, and another 3 concerts on the North Shore from September 2023 to June 2024. These concerts will not preclude us from performing in other outreach events which EnChor enjoys doing. We feel this is a win-win sponsorship for both organizations as we work to support health and wellness through music to an extensive and varied community.
Many thanks to John Culter who introduced EnChor to the Founder and Chairman of PARC Retirement Living, Rainer Müller. John worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help bring this sponsorship to fruition.
