EnChor Weekly Announcements

October 3, 2022

From Morna

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at PSUC this Wednesday, October 5 at 12:15pm for a warmup and runthrough before Ailsa’s 1pm service.  You will need the two pieces of music in your black folder (Brahms Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen and We Rise Again.)  Apparel is what I call the “red” outfits – silk ponchos, black shirts for the men, etc.  Please check with Sandra if unsure what that means. Note: we will be singing with black masks. Nancy will bring along a supply for those who don’t have one.

Please arrive by 12:10 so we can get started singing right at 12:15. I will be learning from Ailsa’s son Peter the details of when we sing in the service.

I’m happy to see excellent attendance expected on Friday, October 7 for the Christmas recording session. If your plans change, please notify your section leader. Please be a few minutes early for the 10am start.  We will wrap at noon. Our engineer is Grant Rowledge. Thank you to Roy Campbell and Ken for playing organ and piano respectively.  I plan to record in this order:

  1. Away in a Manger
  2. We Wish You a Merry Christmas
  3. Joy to the World
  4. O Come, All Ye Faithful
  5. Hark, the Herald Angels Sing
  6. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  7. Deck the Hall

Friday is an audio recording only, so you do not need to wear choir apparel. Please dress comfortably in layers of clothing that does not make sound when you move. We are singing masked – the colour of the mask doesn’t matter. It is expected to be a very nice, summery day, so don’t overdress. Bring your folder to hold the music in, a pencil and a water bottle.  Wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing longer than usual.  We will have a break in the middle of the session and people who need a stool throughout are welcome to do so – please bring your own stool if possible.  There are also a couple at the church.  Looking forward to creating this gift for our care homes!

FROM DON BLAKE

I have uploaded an audio track for the Griffiths arrangement of  “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. This is a rare heritage recording featuring the Little Mountain Singers. The group includes Morna Edmundson, Hoot Gibson and Ron Smail.
