EnChor Weekly Announcements
April 4, 2022

From Morna

Here we are just three rehearsals away from our May 1 concert.  (A reminder there is no rehearsal on Good Friday, April 15). Thank you for the diligence with attendance, whether in person or on Zoom.  Please stay in good communication with your section leader as we head into our last few rehearsals.

This Friday, I’m going to rehearse chunks of the concert in order, so we will get a feel for how it all flows. The order on the weekly rehearsal grid, which is in the singers’ section of the website, is the concert order.  So it starts with Young at Heart and moves on to All Suddenly the Wind, etc.  Please look at the grid for April 8.  We’ll go down the page in order, doing complete run-throughs of some pieces and stopping to rehearse others in more depth. If you are still wondering what’s coming on the next page of any of our music, the next few days would be a great time to do some “woodshedding”.  Composer Stephen Smith is coming at 11:30 to hear his work, so we will skip over Good Night until he arrives.

Friday, April 22 I will be in Calgary working with a treble honour choir, and your guest conductor will be Janet Warren.  I know you and she really enjoy each other’s company and you will be in good hands.  The following Friday, April 29, is our Dress Rehearsal for the May 1 concert.

My thanks to everyone who contributed to the newsletter.  It looks great!  Also, a reminder to encourage your friends and family to purchase tickets to May 1 in advance on the website, so we have a solid idea of how many people are coming and can minimize any stress at the door. As discussed at rehearsal, we can flex somewhat with extra chairs to accommodate walkups so as not to turn anyone away.

Tapestry Performance – afternoon of Friday, April 29

Thank you for completing the survey about who would be interested in singing the gig in the large dining hall at Tapestry at UBC. Repertoire will be taken from the May 1 concert, and only people who are singing May 1 should do the Tapestry gig. Exactly 30 of you responded “yes”, and the balance is reasonable, so please do count on coming if you indicated interest. 30 is the maximum I think we should take. Sandra will tell us this Friday what to wear.

Last Rehearsal of the Year Will be June 3

For those planning travel, etc.  Friday, June 3 will be our last session together for the season.  More details to come next week about what we will be doing May 6 – June 3!

From Don Blake

I will have posters and flyers advertising our May 1 concert available at the rehearsal on Friday. I need someone to volunteer to delivery a package of posters to the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library. Can you help?  Please see me at Friday’s rehearsal.

Reminder about EnChor Shirts
If you are interested in ordering a polo shirt with the EnChor logo please come to rehearsal early or plan to stay a little later to try sizes. There is no obligation to buy a shirt-just for people who are interested.
